THE RUSTY OLD POSTBOX JOURNEY INTO PUBLICATION

SEPTEMBER 2016

The Rusty Old Postbox is the first story that I wrote in English. It tells the story of two boys and a postbox that has the ability to read the letters that people mail through. One day, a very important letter arrives but it has no stamp on it. Who sent this letter? Who did they send it to? Why is this letter so important for the boys and what did the rusty old post box do about it? The story deals with themes of friendship, bullying, being true to yourself and conquering your fears in order to achieve your dreams. It has a bit of magical realism and three quirky protagonists which I believe children will find funny, interesting and entertaining.

The story was inspired by the postbox that you see in the image and that I encountered whilst visiting Windsor in the UK. Someone had stuck two wobbly eyes on it and I thought it looked really funny. Then I started to think that if it had eyes, perhaps it could see as well. And if it could see, well, maybe it could read too! And that was the beginning of the story!

The book is currently in the process of being edited and illustrated. It will be out in Spring 2017.
